14 YouTube Channels Every DIY Car Enthusiast Should Follow

While DIY car maintenance and repair is a lost art these days, some people still roll up their sleeves and wrench on their vehicles.

According to AAA, the average cost to own and operate a vehicle last year was $12,182. That’s up $1,454 from the year before. One way you can possibly lower costs is to work on your car independently rather than head to the mechanic.

You Don’t Have to Be a Natural to Get Started

Unless you grew up helping your dad maintain the family car in the garage or driveway, you might be all thumbs when working on vehicles. But that’s no reason to give up. It’s worth learning to work on your car. If all you learn to do is change the engine oil and filter, monitor fluid levels, and rotate tires, you’ll be ahead of most motorists on the DIY front.

Many mechanics charge well over $100 an hour. While there are maintenance and repair tasks best left to the professionals, many things can be tackled by DIYers.
