16 Top Electric Cars to Watch in 2024

Nearly half a million electric vehicles were sold from January to May, says Edmunds. That tally accounts for approximately 6.9% of all new vehicle buys. So, while EVs remain a relatively small percentage of the vehicles bought in the U.S., people are purchasing them.

The good news is there are more makes and models available than ever. So, those ready to dip their toes in the waters or jump in with both feet have many options.

Here are 16 of the best EVs of 2024. There’s never been a better time to weigh your options.

Cars.com named the Hyundai Ioniq 6 the Best Value New Car in the EV segment for the 2024 model year. That’s mighty high praise considering how many great new EVs were rolled out this year. Among other things, it offers 361 miles of range with the AWD trim. Oh, and you can fill the battery from zero to 80% using rapid charging in 18 minutes.

Do you want a small electric SUV? If so, consider the Kia Niro EV. For its size, it offers a large cargo area, aesthetically pleasing styling, and sufficient power. Its 253 miles of driving range on a full charge isn’t exactly class-leading, but it’s more than enough for most buyers.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is another EV that Hyundai hit out of the ballpark. Its unique styling, range of features, and comfortable ride are pluses. The 220-mile EV range lags behind some of the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s competitors. But it’s a vehicle that’s been well-received—and for good reason.
